Hey there, just wanted to give you a quick update on what we’ve been up to. ToM is a Wisconsin-based progressive rock band and we’re getting ready to release our latest album, “The Last Outpost”, which has been a long time in the making. (Expect the drop in mid-May.) As most of you know, “The Last Outpost” started out strictly as a soundtrack for a planned theatrical production but over time morphed into a standalone project as well. That change-up slowed things down a bit, but I think we’re back on track!
I finally got the chance to listen to the whole album in sequence (?) today, and I have to say, it’s feeling like a solid effort. I’m relieved that it’s all come together so well. The album is a mix of new and old tunes, creating a nearly hour-long tapestry of progressive and retro rock tracks mixed with atmospheric soundscapes. Some of the songs, like “Mescaline” and “Leper”, are familiar and have been around since the 90s, while others are brand new and really take this project to a new level.
Coming back to our music in 2020 has been an amazing experience. While we’ve created 2 soundtracks since then with a ToM song or two included, this is the first time we’ve put together a complete album with a balanced mix of original “songs” along with theatrical and sometimes psychedelic soundscapes. It’s been a real journey, but we couldn’t have done it without the amazing work of Jon Larson and Steve Lentz, as well as the talented Joylin and her violin.
I just wanted to take a quick break from the studio and share with you a bit of where we’re at as we’re nearing completion of the new album, and I have a feeling you’re going to like it. Stay tuned for the release!
And by the way, if you like our music, please share… And if you’re really jamming on it, please go to Bandcamp and purchase the songs or LPs you like. It helps us buy a cup of coffee now and then…
Cheers!
